SIPAT LAWIN ENSEMBLE
Sipat Lawin Ensemble is an edge-work, site-specific, independent performance company composed of theater artists, engaged in devising relevant new works. Changing the landscape of theater in the Philippines, the group aims to develop a contemporary community theater experience shared among artists and audiences inside and/or outside the four walls of the theater. The Ensemble’s core group of artists manages the company and its programs alongside producing and developing performances and alternative modes of performance-making.
2015-Present. Seoul (Korea), Manila (Philippines), Yokohama (Japan), and Darwin (Australia).
GOBYERNO is a participatory performance inviting audiences to form and perform their ideal government, create their own ruling bodies and develop a national constitution. Audiences collectively re-imagine social institutions and create alternatives. After a series of creatively facilitated dialogues, audiences then write, direct and perform a documentation of their government. Finally, audiences watch the film they created. Where possible, the documentation will be shared with policy-makers.
